FUN FOOTBALL: The following grades are based on 2026 school years for your child.

U5 Grade - Born 2021 or later

U6 Grade - Born 2020

U7 Grade - Born 2019

WHAT:

The Fun Football programme will be split into two grades, U5 & U6 combined and then U7 seperately. The Fun Football programme is designed for your child's first step into the footballing world. It provides a fun environment for a child to develop their movement, balance, and enjoyment of the game through engaging activities and small sided games. Our overall aim is to ensure all kids have fun and start to fall in love with ‘the beautiful game’.

U5 & U6:

Each week, players will be placed into small groups of 5-10, each supported by a parent volunteer manager. These groups will rotate through a series of fun, football-based activities run by club coaches. The rotation setup ensures players experience a variety of skills and remain engaged, rather than only playing games.

For the second half of the session, players will be split into teams and play small-sided matches, 3 vs 3, likely to be 2 x 10 minute matches

U7:

This age group follows a similar structure to U5 & U6; however, we expect a wider range of ability levels, so the program has been adjusted. While the primary focus remains fun and enjoyment, we believe the best way to achieve this is by having playing groups based on each player’s engagement, experience, and ability. The rationale behind this approach is to ensure all players train and play in an environment that maximises their personal development.

Within these brackets, players will be placed into groups of 5–10 and rotate through skill stations led by designated coaches. The aim is to expose players to a variety of learning experiences and provide different perspectives to support their development.

For the second half of the session, players will be split into teams and play small-sided matches, 4 vs 4, likely to be 2 x 15 minute matches

WHEN:

The season will kick off on Friday 1st May 2026, sessions will run from 4pm to 6.15pm, split as follows:

U5 & U6 = 4pm to 5pm

U7 = 5pm to 6.15pm

The season will run through to Friday 4th September 2026, with no football being played on Friday 29th May 2026 (Kings Birthday weekend) and Friday 10th July 2026 (Matariki)

Food trucks and club run BBQ will be available for these sessions.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS: COACHES/MANAGERS:

We are aiming for the majority of the football based activities (station rotation) will be run by club coaches. Parent volunteers will be required guide small groups of players between the various training stations. Additional support might be required for the small sided gamees following the football based activities.

We’re aware that this may be a parents first foray into the world of football, and we will aim to offer free coaching courses should their child wish to continue their football journey across the age grades.

TEAMS:

Teams will be picked each week at the sessions based on the playing groups.

PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Each week a player from each team is awarded a player of the day certificate. The player is chosen based on how they have performed throughout the session and whether they have shown the attributes which are being taught by our coaches

We are extremely grateful for any local sponsors to provide vouchers for kids to reward them for their achievements.
